I posted household hints a while ago and one of them was a solution for ants. I had ants in the back lawn but I had already bought chemicals so I used them. Well, something happened...they moved the entrance to the nest about a foot away. They are still thriving. So today I bought a bag of cornmeal for $2.00. I have poured about a cup around the many entrances to that nest and I will let you know what happens. They are supposed to take the cornmeal to the nest and they are supposed to all eat it and explode.
I have a worse problem. I noticed ants and sawdust in my front doorstep so placed some ant poison in copious amounts in the area. I am not sure they were going for it, I kept seeing more and more sawdust. Today, I gave them some cornmeal. They are going for it. Now I will watch and see if it works...but I won't wait toooo long before calling pest control. These fellows are voracious and it is my house they are tunneling through.
In the slide show below you can see the sawdust area where I poured cornmeal. Ok, so I used a little too much? I wanted to be sure they noticed it.
